why gentle?

Hello, I’m Sue Watson, designer and maker of Gentle Jewellery. My workshop is on our farm in the rolling Somerset hills, and yes, I’m a farmer too! An unlikely combination, but both professions compliment each other. The gentle beauty of the land inspires design and creativity, and the skills needed for traditional gold and silversmithing transfer to the farm - shaping metal with a hammer is something farmers do too.

My designs are soft and elegant, with the hope that the wearer will feel beautiful and special. An heirloom to be passed on.

Everything is handmade from design to finished piece. I set my own stones and use traditional techniques with the type of tools used for a thousand years. This way of making gives each piece its individuality, and every piece unique.

Gentle Jewellery is ethically made to have minimal negative implications for people or the environment. Everything we do has an impact, but with my jewellery I endeavour to make the impact as gentle as possible.
